Q: Is it safe for my house to be left in the hands of people I don’t know?
A: Only professing Bible-believing Christians are allowed to join BRAVE and are therefore trustworthy. Secondly, as you prepare to exchange, the two families involved form a unique relationship with each other ,which builds a bond of trust. Often member families take better care of the house they exchange in than they do their own! Another organization, Intervac International, which has provided exchanges to the general public for over 60 years, has not had even one report of theft and damage reports are rare.
Q: Am I prohibited from being a vacation-exchange member simply because I am not a Christian?
Q: What types of houses are acceptable for exchange?
A: Anything from single-family homes to vacation home to condos.
Q: Where is BRAVE membership currently available?
A: In all 50 states and Washington D.C.
Q: Since I don’t live in a place like Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Colorado Springs or San Diego, would anyone want to exchange with me?
A: People exchange for a variety or reasons: to explore a wide area, check out a prospective college, visit family or attend a special event such as a wedding, graduation or reunion. More importantly, if you look at your city, county and adjacent counties, you will find sites interesting to visitors. You’re just not typically aware of them because you’ve taken them for granted.
Q: For what period of time may I make an exchange?
A: The first 14 days annually are tax-free. If you exchange for more than two weeks, the rental value of where you stay must be shown as revenue. Consult your tax preparation professional for details.
Q: Does my homeowner’s insurance policy cover any damage to my house while it’s being exchanged?
A: You need to consult your insurance agent or broker to answer this question. Again, incidents of damage during exchanges are very rare.
Q: If I rent my home, may I join BRAVE?
A: Renters need to contact their landlord/lady to see if their rental agreement allows joining vacation exchanges. If not mentioned in the rental agreement, provide BRAVE’s website, brave2go.com, to your landlord/lady to help him or her decide if permission is granted.
Attention pastors wanting to join BRAVE: If you live in a church-owned parsonage, you need to seek your church board’s permission to join BRAVE
Q: If we exchange hundreds of miles apart and we exchange vehicles as well as houses, does my automobile insurance policy cover my exchange partners?
A: Again, consult your insurance agent or broker for this question. If coverage is not provided for exchange vehicles, it maybe easier to rent a car.
Q: Who will have access to information I would provide to BRAVE?
A: Only other current members of BRAVE will have access. A password will be required to access your information. BRAVE will NEVER sell, rent or give away its members information under any circumstances.
Q: What is the annual fee amount and what does it provide?
A: All families joining by April 30th, 2016, will pay an annual membership fee of only $30, a savings of $50 or over 62%. Payments may be made online using a major credit card through PayPal. Membership will provide you with access to any member’s name, city, state, email address and number of people that can sleep in the house. All arrangements will be made between exchangers via snail mail, email or phone. BRAVE does not act as a go-between.
